Cardiff, 31 January 2016.

Congratulations to all medallists at the Welsh Senior Indoor Championships held yesterday in Cardiff:

Senior Women:
1. Sian Swanson (Swansea) 11.29m
2. Macey Jones (Cwmbran) 10.50m
3. Olivia Michael (Neath) 10.19m
4. Brooke Langton-Cryer (Cardiff) 9.86m; 5. Emily Thomas (Cardiff Archers) 9.84m; 6. Katy Townsend (Cheltenham) 9.76m.

Despite being down on a leap of 11.61m in the same venue just 3 weeks ago, 22 year-old Sian took the honours ahead of the younger challengers – 15 year old Macey and 16 year-old Olivia.

Senior Men:
1. Navid Childs (Thames Valley) 14.46m
2. Osaze Aghedo (Swansea) 14.45m (PB)
3. Norbert Lenard (Swansea) 14.16m
4. Gage Francis (Cardiff) 13.46m; 5. Jake Parmenter (North Devon) 13.46m.

34 year-old Navid took the contest by just a single centimetre with a jump encouragingly close to his best leap of 14.77m for the entire year of 2015. In 2nd place 16 year-old Aghedo, the 3rd-ranked British under 17 of last year, had the consolation at least of a new PB by a pleasing 22 cm.  Romanian Norbert in 3rd was well down on his lifetime best of 16.04m, set in 2011.
